It's a simple garter stitch band knit on straight needles and fits most heads! It fit my 4 year old's head and my adult head! It just ties in the back making it very simple with no seaming. Here's the pattern (also found in downloadable pdf format on my sidebar):
Materials: Size 7 straight needles
Worsted, medium, or double knit yarn, in two colors
Instructions:
With first color, CO 40 sts.
Rows 1-3: Knit every row
Row 4: Join second color and knit entire row
Row 5: Knit
Rows 6 & 7: At beg of row, CO 40 sts., then CO those 40 sts. and knit rest of row.
Rows 8 & 9: Knit entire row
Row 10: Join first color and knit entire row
Rows 11 & 12: Knit

You're so clever! After I finish the counted cross-stitch I've been working on for the past ten years, I'll have to give this a go!
Both this hair band and a footstool I found at http://www.pickles.no/puff-daddy-knitted-stool may just be enough to tempt me into knitting... probably within the next five years! lol
Elisa, if you finish that cross stitch piece in the next five years, I'll probably faint. ;)
Jen, I printed out the .pdf and added it to my Ravelry queue...can't wait to get started!
Quick question on rows 6&7: do you mean cast on then bind off 40 stitches? I think that's what the pattern is saying, but I'm not sure. :) Thanks!
Jen..I'm passing your blog info to a friend and co-worker here in Portugal. She too loves to knit. You may be hearing from her soon!
These are adorable! Just noticed the pic up top with your kids both reflected in your glasses. Super cool!
I am Nina's co-worker. She passed your blog on to me. I like the sipleness of this pattern. It is always the simple ones that are the best isn't it.
