With A Smile, "That Was Good."1:10 AM
Do you ever have those times when you can sit back and say with a smile, "That was good?" That's how I feel about the DTS training school that just ended. It's not a pride thing but rather one of those moments where you know that you know that everyone did their best.
This school was incredible, and I can't say that enough. They truly were. I count it a privilege that they were my first school to actually lead. I've been pondering lately what made it an incredible school. I've worked with lots and lots of training schools, but why was this one so different?
There are three main reasons that I think went into making this a school I will never forget. One, I had an incredible staff. To have a group of people who engage relationship to the level that they did is something I did not take for granted. Despite weariness and other responsibilities they carried on campus, they still gave their all. You guys are incredible! Two, the students fully engaged God and each other. The combination of those two made for a unity that was so strong it actually left a mark on those they ministered to. When they left Uganda, the Orphans Know More leader said the number one thing the families they visited commented on was their love and unity among one another. Not every team does this but these guys did, and as a result, their ministry flowed out of relationship. The third, and most important reason, is because of Jesus. We (I) did not do everything perfect. I made mistakes. But God's plans seem to happen despite us. As long as the students engaged Him, He could change them, despite our shortcomings. In our weakness, He is truly made strong. He is simply amazing.
And that's why I can sit back and say, "That was good!" There's lots I learned, things I would do different, but that's always going to be the case. Again, the faithfulness of God when we engage Him. I leave you with a scripture I read the other day in 1 Corinthians 1:25. To me it says of how amazing He is, beyond what we can even think.
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
