A Homemade, Handmade Giveaway

You might have noticed by now that I love making things for people's birthdays. I just love putting thought and attention into a gift. I think it speaks value and love for that person! So...I'm going out on a limb here and offering a giveaway of a different sort. You see my birthday is next week and I'm offering YOU a homemade, handmade giveaway in honor of the momentous occasion! I am in no way a super experienced knitter, but in the short time I've been knitting, my needles have almost always had something on them.

So here's the scoop. You will see on my sidebar a knitting label. Feel free to browse my finished projects. The winner of this giveaway will get to choose a project and a color for me to make for them! It can be for yourself or a gift to give away to someone else. Isn't this fun?

To enter, leave your comment with the name of the project, the link to it on my blog, and your best birthday moment. Comments will close on my birthday, August 21st at 10:12 PM U.S. Central Standard time (the time I was born, I know I'm being a little cheesy) and the winner will be announced here shortly after.

*After the winner is announced, please allow time for production! :)

And the winner is...

Love this giveaway! :)
Thanks for another - and a handmade one at that is SUPER - I LOVE handmade!

My choice would be the little Bunny you made for Isabelle for her b-day. My little girl's 1st is the 26th of this month and I'd want it for her. (PS. My Poppa's 84th bday is the same day as yours - the 21st.)

I have had a few memorable birthdays but one in particular, in our dating years, Chad took me to see the Wizard of Oz on Ice. What a great show it was!!

Congrats, Jennifer! Email me your contact details and there will be one little bunny coming your way for your little girl!

Of course I would love a Sassy Frass Hair Band for my little girl. :)

  2. Oh very cool idea! I have officially become addicted to knitting. Get this! I asked if I could take my needles on my 16 hour plane ride and the lady told me no! I was so freaking bored on the plane...

Anyways, I think it would be really awesome to get some Knucks (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTknucks.html) with an outline of Africa on the tops. Then I could try and sell them in the Freedom Bags event thing I am really excited to do.... hopefully. What do you think?

My favorite birthday moment would have to be on my 16th birthday my friends came to my house in the middle of the night and decorated the car that I was going to start driving. I also got my license that day. It was pretty awesome!

  3. Oooh! I love how you have giveaways! My favourite would be the beanie that jeremy is wearing on this post: http://jeremynjenprice.blogspot.com/2009/07/birthday-crafting-round-one.html (i don't know how to do that fancy link it thing)

The reason I like this one is because Pieter just can't find a decent beanie that he likes, everything here is very plain and that has just the right amount of "pizazz"!!

My favourite birthday moment is the year Pieter and I started dating. We were just friends then. He, Chris Pieterse and I went exploring Sabie after classes and it was just one of those fun days. We drove through one of the forests in Sabie (very naughty)! And we threw logs off a cliff.

Great idea to have a giveaway! I'm holding thumbs!

  5. What a great idea...YOUR birthday and someone else gets a gift!
You have a lovely heart! I am determined to learn your skills.

I LOVE all your hats but think the waffle is really cute http://thirdbaseline.blogspot.com/2008/01/back-in-yarn-stash-again.html

My favorite birthday was my 13th - right before I moved from McKinney to Princeton...it was huge, all my friends and family were there.

  6. Hey Jen!
Fun idea!! Thanks for being so creative!!
Ok - I love the scarf!! Ok -I can't find the linkey!! :/ But the name is the coveting soft scarf.
OK - I have had alot of favorite and fun birthdays some when I was young and some now that I am "old". Ya know - big parties, small parties, family parties and surprise parties!! But just this week I turned 41 - I just really can't believe I am in my 40's!! Of course Scott and the kids gave me some sweet presents but the night of my birthday I just go to spend it with a special friend. Just good ole' quality time! We went to eat and just kept it simple. I just really enjoyed sitting accross the table from someone that I have laughed with, cried with and "done life" with. I guess sometimes the "simple" things mean soooo much.

  10. I saw your blog on Jane's site, so I stopped by to see about your giveaway--and wow--- you are NOT an amateur knitter, I love your stuff. My three favorites are the bunny, the felt bowls, and the lil dress.

    Keep it up!

The Odessa! Love it. I had a very, very hard time choosing my favorite project. They are all great!

Favorite birthday memory- being in Paris for my 23rd birthday. We went out for Mexican food...how ironic is that? We had been away from home for 6 weeks and needed a little taste of Texas. It wasn't that great :-)

  12. I like any of the scarves...or the butterfly hat.

    (I'm easy...so pick me!)

Plus, winter is on its way...you wouldn't have me walking around with a naked neck or head would you???

  13. How neat!

I've been enjoying watching your projects. I think we are going to do the round magnets for Christmas gifts for the grandparents this year.
I would choose the rabbit (http://jeremynjenprice.blogspot.com/2009/04/birthday-and-bunny.html) you made. Anna's room is done up in pink toile and rabbits. SO CUTE!
My favorite birthday memory is when Jeff took me out to dinner and to play skee ball for my 25th birthday. I was about to POP with Joshua, and had to bend at rather odd angles to be able to play. Oh, what fun!
I hope your birthday is great!

  14. What a fun idea! You are too kind! I love the white muse hat that you blogged about on Thursday, July 9, 2009.
My best birthday was this year... Phillip took me to Charleston, SC for the weekend and left the boys with Grandma and Grandpa! To top it off we got to go on a private gardens tour.
    Thanks,

  15. You have me hooked!! Your knitting is what brought me to your blog and now, I come frequently to see all the great things that you are doing in SA. I told Robie the other day, we need to go to SA. Our girls agree. I recently put a world map under clear vinyl on our dining table, and our 2 1/2 year old pointed to SA and said what's the name of that place. I told her and told her a little about it and both girls have decided they want to go. Hmmmm... We'll have to see.

Anyway, your knitting is beautiful, and it has inspired me to pick it back up. I have done the little vest for the stuffed animal for my niece's Bday and she loved it! My favorite project you have done is the bunny!! I am going to try the pattern, but make a puppy for our sweet boy that is on the way.

If I happen to win the drawing, I would love it if you made the lavender sachet for our girls, but I do not see a link for it.

One of my favorite B-day memories, is when Robie bought me a Great Dane puppy just before he went on a deployment to Iraq. Being pregnant and taking care of a new pup sure helped the time to pass quickly.

I hope you have a GREAT birthday, and I am SO excited for you that Jeremy is coming home!
