While in India, we were able to visit a children's home run by Hope of Glory Foundation. There was more than one reason this visit was special for me. Joy and Liliana run Hope of Glory Foundation and I've known Liliana for about 13 years. Before either of us were married or had kids, we all (her, Jeremy, and myself) trekked to India together for the unforgettable trip, one that Lily and I reminisced about recently.
I've heard so much about Hope of Glory and the work Joy and Liliana have been doing, rescuing kids off the streets and out of brothels (yes, there are kids who live in the brothels). To see it with my own eyes was nothing short of incredible. Hearing the kid's stories of abandonment and heartache and then seeing that they now they have love, shelter, food in their bellies, and a strong foundation...well, the impact Hope of Glory is having on them shines through. You start with the one and before you know it, you are impacting over 30 kids.
I picked up about 20 calendars from Hope of Glory while I was there. They are very sturdy 2011 desktop flip calendars, but they are actually so much more than a calendar.
They show pictures of where some of these kids have come from, and they serve as a reminder to pray for them and the millions of other street kids in the world. You can purchase a calendar for $10 and all profit will go to Hope of Glory which will enable them to continue to provide care for these kids.
