giveaway :: jewelry from hope's gate

1:14 AM

My trip to India this March was with a ministry called Hope's Gate.  I always find it a privilege to witness firsthand the impact a ministry is having on others.  As I saw the street children and the brothels, I understood how Hope's Gate is truly bringing hope to a vicious cycle.

Hope's Gate was started by my friend, Patty Bauman, with the goal to bring hope to orphans, victims of human trafficking, and the world's most vulnerable.  Hope's Gate currently has three jewelry projects started in India where ladies are being taught how to make jewelry in which they earn an income.  I asked Patty to share with us what inspired her to start Hope's Gate...

"As I sat in the small room and listened to Nuri's painful story several years ago, it was the first time my heart was touched by the plight of exploited young women in India.  When she was 13 years old her mother gave her to a local pimp.  She was badly abused and ended up in a local hospital from her injuries.  She was telling us her story and expressing gratefulness for being rescued and brought to a safe house. Something had to be done to give young women like Nuri hope for a better future.

The vision of Hope's Gate was born out of my travels and work with orphans and victims of human trafficking in India and recognizing the need to make a long term difference in their lives.  To date we have three jewelry making projects that give young women like Nuri a way to make an income in a safe environment. Purchasing the jewelry here in the U.S. allows individuals to take part in changing the lives of young women at risk!  Together we can be part of stopping the exploitation of women and children around the world."

I wanted to take the time to highlight this amazing ministry and how you can so easily take part in stopping the exploitation of women and children simply by purchasing jewelry!  Can you believe it's that easy?  Patty has also graciously supplied three pairs of earrings to give away to three lucky recipients!  Winner number one will receive a pair of shell earrings.  Winner number two a pair of red thread earrings, and winner number three a pair of orange thread earrings.
