I always love when I can go somewhere and bring back something to give away to you! This something is a little more special, though, than just a random souvenir. My sister-in-law has been making these stylish bags for a while now. As the demand and vision has expanded, she had the desire to start teaching women in the local African communities how to sew. Gloria is her first student! Gloria didn't know how to sew at all when Anneke started teaching her and now she can create something with her hands that she's not only proud of but that she can earn a profit from to feed her family. My heart gets giddy to see this in action.

To Purchase
Match the text on the photo with the text in the Style drop down menu on the BUY NOW button. Over the shoulder bags are $35 each and coin purses are $15 each. Coin purses measure approximately 6.5" X 5". Prices include shipping within the U.S. If you are overseas and would like to purchase a bag, email me and we'll work out shipping costs. All bags and coin purses feature an Africa applique sewn on the outside.

I am giving away the lovely orange bag which happens to be the one Gloria is making in the above photo. Giveaway is open internationally and ends Thursday, September 15th at 9 PM CST when random number generator will choose one winner.

I showed this post to Gloria today and she thought it was the neatest thing. She was so excited to see her bags online.
Love the bags especially now that Belo Horizonte is made it a law you can not use plastic grocery bags any more! Cloth bags are a must! Love it!

What a gorgeous bag! My mom taught a few local woman how to sew when we lived in Guatemala and Bolivia, and gave one of them her sewing machine when we left Bolivia. It's great to see your sister-in-law doing the same!
