you've got mail

12:00 AM

Well, I know yesterday was Valentine's Day, so perhaps this comes a day late. However, instead of a fun Valentine topic yesterday, I posted on fear. Maybe I should have switched the two, but perfect love casts out fear, right? Absolutely.

Moving right along...Valentine's Day. We love it in this house. We've made it tradition to make mailboxes to encourage each other to write notes to slip into the mailbox. There's something so beautiful about the handwritten word, and I love how excited my kids get to participate.

This year we made our mailboxes out of empty juice cartons, toilet paper rolls, and styrofoam cups. The plan was to actually use paper towel rolls and styrofoam bowls. However, you never know if the store here will have what you need, and multiple trips left me empty on paper towels and bowls so I went with what I could find.

It took us a few days to complete these with crazy schedules, power outages, and glue drying time, but it was worth it. It always is. I think every year Joshua declares the mailboxes we make to be the "best ones ever!" Valentine's Day might have been yesterday but these will stay up several more weeks. They always do, which is just fine by me.
