a relay game party

12:00 AM

Truth be told, Joshua and I are the two in this family that really, really love birthdays. We definitely do a birth week. We're trying to get the rest of the crew on board for a birth month, but it doesn't look like that one's happening.

But we always do a party.

My boy's 11th birthday party was super easy. I had asked Joshua what kind of party he wanted, and I was quite surprised at the response. He wanted a party with lots of relay games. Hmmm...I can do that.

We started with races that ride solo...sack race and the crab walk.

sack races

jump

fallen crab

Then we moved to the ones that require two...human wheelbarrow and three legged race.

A quick pause for cake (he chose that favorite cookies and cream cake again) and gift opening and then we were back at the games.

This time it was the team relays. Perhaps the relay that was the most fun is the one that I don't know the name of. It was suggested by Rebekah, one of our students in the discipleship school here at University Village. It was such a hit! The kids had to put on oversized shoes, a jacket, and a hat, run down to the bench, cut a piece of candy with a knife and fork, eat it, then run back for the next team member to go do the same. Best.game.ever.

What better way to end a party that by a marshmallow and flour fight? Fun times.

Happy birthday, my boy! Great idea for a party!
