in the studio :: fire

12:00 AM

Welcome to In The Studio, a place to show off your studio and meet some great artists! It's been quite the week for me which has left me with few words on this fine Friday. Everything's good, just some good processing with God that is vulnerable and difficult at times but a good difficult. Do you know what I mean?

We had a big fire recently on the property where we live. The flames were huge and so close to our house. I could hear the cackling from inside my house. Crazy, I tell you. After the week I've had, I'm thinking about that fire. Fire can be devastating. It can wipe out which creates a space to begin afresh. It can also be refining and purifying.

I'm welcoming the fire, knowing something beautiful is going to emerge in due time. Have you ever had a fire experience like I'm talking about?

Now it's your turn! Remember your "studio" can be anywhere. Let's celebrate each other's creativity by linking up and visiting as many as the other studios as you can. Check out the about post for more info and don't forget to grab the In The Studio button!

  1. Those are terrific fire photos!! We once had a fire in the field across from our house when we lived near Heathrow Airport. Very smokey.
    I think labour, birth, and the newborn weeks are the sort of cleansing/restarting fire that you're talking about, for me right now. I've also had that when my dad died and during times when I was job hunting and other uncomfortable life transitions. For me, I think i need these challenges in order to grow.

  2. I'm sure it was a terrifying experience, but I agree with you. As in Isaiah 61:1-3:
    …He has sent me to… provide for those who grieve in Zion—
    to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
    the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
    and a garment of praise
    instead of a spirit of despair.
    They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
    for the display of his splendor.

    Blessings to you and your family, my friend!
